Are You Really Anti Spam?
Can you really consider yourself to be anti spam? It goes without saying that you all hate having your inbox flooded with spam every single day. An inbox full of get-rich-quick-schemes, pornography and annoying adverts for viagra are the last thing many of you need. The question is this - what do you do each day to help combat that tidal wave of spam? Without taking action against spam you're almost adding to the problem.
There is of course a wide range of anti spam software on the market today. Depending what program or service you use to send and receive email will have an impact on what anti spam application or service will best suit your needs. Anti spam software will attempt to filter unsolicited emails from your computer and block it from ever getting to your inbox. This is as crucial for home users as it is for businesses.
Preventing spam from getting to your inbox doesn't have to be expensive. There are plenty of low cost and even free anti spam solutions. These programs and services tend to be easy to install and use with some of them being entirely web-based and not needing to be installed on your computer at all.
Beyond the availability of anti spam software there are also several groups on the Internet who actively combat spam. The largest of these groups is CAUCE (Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email) who have an American, Canadian and International division. CAUCE provides information on fighting spam, tips and tools and updates on pending legislation in the war against spam.
The spam problem is growing each day. The amount of time companies and individuals spend fighting spam each day runs into billions of dollars in lost business and personal time. Ongoing anti spam legislation is a move in the right direction but we each need to play our own part in proactively fighting spam each day. Use anti spam software, report spammers to their ISP. Do whatever it takes to become of the global anti spam battle.
